How to grow Spinach 'Akarenso'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Akarenso is thought of as half hardy, so although it can survive a small mild cold snap, it is wise to ensure that this plant is protected from frost damage. Ideally plant in loamy soil and try to keep the ph of your soil between the range of 6.0 and 7.0 as Akarenso likes to be in weakly acidic soil to neutral soil.

Growing Akarenso from seed

Sow 0.49 inches (1.25 cm) deep with a guideline distance of 3.12 inches (8.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 8°C / 46°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Akarenso about 60 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Akarenso

Ensure that temperatures are mild (minimum night temperatures should be around 0°C / 32°F) and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Akarenso is a half hardy plant.
