How to grow Daffodil 'Martinette'

Allow foliage to die back naturally to feed the bulb for next years flowers. Pinch off old flower heads and developing seed head to conserve the bulbs energy
Divide established clumps, or if the bulbs come up ‘blind’ (without flower buds) after the foliage begins to die back after flowering

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Martinette is thought of as hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures.

Growing Martinette from seed

Martinette is not usually grown from seed. The easiest way to grow more is to divide established clumps as the foliage dies back after flowering.

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 3.9 inches (10.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 7.8 inches (20.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than -5°C / 23°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Martinette

Plant bulbs in groups of at least 3, under grass, trees or hedges. or use in pots or containers

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Martinette is a hardy plant.

Harvesting Martinette

Martinette can be used as a cut flower, pick as the buds that will open in the vase

This variety tends to be ready for harvesting by mid spring.
