How to grow Chard 'Silverado'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Silverado likes a position of full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Silverado is thought of as very hardy, so this plant will typically do well in a variety of different extremes of cold temperature. Planting Silverado in loamy and clay soil with a ph of between 6.1 and 7.5 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Silverado from seed

Sow at a depth of approx. 0.39 inches (1.0 cm) and aim for a distance of at least 0.39 inches (1.0 cm) between Chard plants. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 10°C / 50°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Silverado

As Silverado is very hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
