Henbane

Henbane is a member of the Hyoscyamus family. Its botanical name is Hyoscyamus niger.

Henbane is a biennial or annual plant found growing wild on waste ground in the UK and northern Europe.
The foliage is robust, and in the first year forms a basal rosette. The leaves are oblong lobed corsely toothed and hairy held on thick strong stems up to 1.5m high
The flowers cup shaped, buff to light yellow with purple veins

Blooms normally grow to 2.0 cm (0.78 inches imperial) in diameter and produce an unpleasant scent, whilst showing as a colour very similar to   Persian indigo and   Arylide yellow and   Buff. The mature flowers take a single form, with an approximate petal count of 5. Its fruits normally ripen as a colour very similar to   Android robot green and   Davy's grey. Leaves usually appear in   Sap green and   Grade 1 Paint Green

Henbane grows as a biennial and is a flowering herb / flower. Being a biennial plant, it tends to grow best over the course of two years.

Henbane is known for its erect habit and growing to a height of approximately 1.50 metres (4.88 feet). This plant tends to bloom in late summer, followed by first harvests in mid autumn.
