Rosary plant Etymology

The genus name was given by Linneaus to describe his interpretation of the flowers appearance like fountains of wax from the word “keros”, which means wax, and “pege”, meaning fountain. The species plant honors John Medley Wood (1827 – 1915) who collected native African plants.1
