Plant in full sun to partial shade. Leaves may lose variegation in shade.
Pandanus grow best in moist soil but the foliage crown must be kept dry or the plant may develop rot. In their native habitat screwpines often grow alongside watercourses or in sandy coastal situations. They tolerate salt spray quite well and once established will tolerate short periods of drought. They prefer a tropical climate with distinct wet and dry seasons, and will not tolerate frost.
The plant can be kept as a potted specimen in cooler climates provided it is brought indoors during cooler months.
The seeds need to be soaked for about 5 days and the water should be changed frequently.
These estimates for how long Veitch's Screwpine takes to sprout, grow and harvest are from real observations from real gardeners, right around the world.
