How to grow Soybean 'Shirofumi'

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Shirofumi is thought of as half hardy, so protect with a row cover whenever the temperatures drop.

Growing Shirofumi from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 1.49 inches (3.81 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.99 inches (2.54 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 18°C / 64°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Shirofumi

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Shirofumi is a half hardy plant.

Harvesting Shirofumi

Mature pods will be 4-inches long and contain 3-4 beans.

This variety tends to be ready for harvesting by mid summer.
