To increase hibiscus it is easier to take cuttings from semi ripe wood, just below the leaf node. These can be rooted in water or in gritty compost, it may take several weeks to grow roots.
Hibiscus needs good light (but not bright sun) and must not get cold in the winter, as this could cause the leaves to yellow and fall. An east facing window could fulful its requirements, as long as it was moved from the cold at night
Scratch the surface of the seed and soak prior to planting for 24 hours in a warm place. Pot into free draing compost cover with a minimal laver of perlite or compost and place in a plastic bag. It requires bottom heat 75 to 80F and light. germination should be in 10 to 30 days
Some hibiscus are not hardy and are kept as house plants in cooler climates. Repot as the roots appear at the bottom of the pot. It is not always necessary to use a larger pot if space is limited, loosen some old compost and top up with fresh, potting compost back into the old pot
Hibiscus is tender, so ensure you wait until all danger of frost has passed in your area before considering planting outside - as a guideline, the minimum temperature outside should be approximately 13°C / 55°F.The flowers do not last long and are best enjoyed on the plant
These estimates for how long Hibiscus takes to sprout, grow and harvest are from real observations from real gardeners, right around the world.
