How to grow Lemon 'Four Seasons'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Keep the lemon plant from wide temperature fluctuations as it will drop a lot of leaves. It can be placed outside during the summer but acclimatise it slowly over a period of ten days or so when moving it out or back inside again

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Four Seasons is thought of as tender, so it is really important to plant out well after your last frost date. Ideally plant in potting mix soil and try to keep the ph of your soil between the range of 6.1 and 7.5 as Four Seasons likes to be in weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Four Seasons from seed

Named varieties are usually grafted and may not come tru to type from seed

Soil temperature should be kept higher than 15°C / 59°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Four Seasons

Keep an eye on the roots as they fill the pot, tapping the plant out occasionally to check it has not become bound
Pot up using specialist citrus compost or ericaceous compost with a little added vermiculite

Ensure that temperatures are mild (minimum night temperatures should be around 5°C / 41°F) and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Four Seasons is a tender plant.

Harvesting Four Seasons

Lemons can be harvested from pot grown plants in the autumn after a spring flowering

This variety tends to be ready for harvesting by early autumn.
