How to grow Balkan cranesbill 'Spessart'

This geranium will benefit from division every few years and cutting back if it out grows its allotted space
Propagate from cuttings, root cuttings or division of existing clumps

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Keep in mind when planting that Spessart is thought of as hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures. Spessart requires a loamy, sandy and potting mix soil with a ph of 6.0 - 10.0 - it grows best in weakly acidic soil to moderately alkaline soil.

Growing Spessart from seed

Can be grown from seed but it readily takes from cuttings or division of an existing clump. It is much quicker to establish from cuttings or division.

Soil temperature should be kept higher than 10°C / 50°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Spessart

This geranium is hardy and spreading and makes excellent ground cover requiring little care once established

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Spessart is a hardy plant.
