How to grow Leek 'Hannibal'

A partial sun position will ensure your plant thrives and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Hannibal is thought of as very hardy, so this plant will tend to go dormant over the long winter months.

Growing Hannibal from seed

Aim to sow 0.78 inches (2.0 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 0.39 inches (1.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 16°C / 61°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Hannibal

Mke hole with dibber 6 in/15cm deep and place plant into each hole then fill with water. DO NOT FILL HOLE WITH SOIL

As Hannibal is very hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.

Harvesting Hannibal

This variety tends to be ready for harvesting by mid winter.
