How to grow Dwarf Nasturtium 'Jewel Mix'

  • Partial Sun

  • Medium

Easy to care for. Annual in cooler zones, but can be brought inside for the winter months.

A partial sun position will ensure your plant thrives and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Jewel Mix is thought of as hardy, so it can be safe to leave outdoors for the majority of winter (although if in doubt, using a row cover is often a good idea). A soil ph of between 6.1 and 7.8 is ideal for Jewel Mix as it does best in weakly acidic soil - weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Jewel Mix from seed

If you soak the seeds in a glass of water overnight, before sowing them, they germinate a lot better!

Aim to sow 0.5 inches (1.27 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 1.95 inches (5.0 cm).

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Jewel Mix about 14 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Jewel Mix

As the seedlings develop, thin to achieve a final spacing of 25cm.

As Jewel Mix is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
