Sow direct into finely raked, moist, warm, weed free soil where the plants are to flower at a depth of 6mm, raking the seed in slightly. Germination will take around 14 to 21 days. Can also be sown in Autumn in a seedbed and transferred to flowering positions the following spring.
Most poppies require light to germinate.
Just press the seeds into the surface of the soil, sprinkle a small amount of sand or vermiculite over them, and spritz to moisten.
Thin seedlings as necessary allowing approx. 30 to 38cm between plants and removing any competing weeds.
