After bloom, allow foliage to grow; removal will weaken the bulb. It is best to avoid summer water.

Transplanting Ruby Giant

Plant bulbs in fall before ground freezes. It is best to plant right away as the little bulbs can dry out, and they benefit from a chance to grow roots before winter. Plant about 5" deep, and mix some balanced fertilizer to the hole before planting. The flattened side of the bulb should be down and the pointed end up. Although it should have sun in early spring, it can be planted under deciduous trees or shrubs, as it will complete its life cycle before the trees leaf out and shade it. Good drainage is needed.

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Ruby Giant is a very hardy plant.
