Matrona is part of the Sedum genus and is a Hybrid stonecrop variety. Its scientific name is Sedum 'Matrona'. This variety typically blooms in the following colours:   Pale pink. The blooms display an average of 5 petals. The leaves of this particular variety normally show as   Kelly green colour.

Very tolerant of deep shade and grows in full sun also. The beautiful blue-green foliage is followed by clusters of pale-pink flowers which turn a deeper pink as they mature. Apart for the ornamental qualities, this plant is also said. is edible and can be used in salads and cooked in soups and stews.1

Matrona grows as a Perennial and is a Flower. Being a Perennial, it tends to grow best over several years (approx 3 years and greater). Normally reaching to a mature height of 1.95 feet (60.0 cm), Matrona grows with a mound-forming growth habit.

Can be started by rooting a leaf in early summer. It can be trimmed when it gets six to eight inches tall in order to shorten the plant, however by doing this it will result in a delay of flowering.

Plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Keep in mind when planting that Matrona is thought of as very hardy, so this plant will survive though longer winters with little or no damage. Use USDA Hardiness Zone 3 - 9 as your guideline for the appropriate climate for this plant.
