Mimosa tree Etymology

The genus name honors Filippo delgli Albizzia, an 18th century Italian naturalist who introduces the genus to Italy in 1749.1

The specific epithet comes from the Persian word gul-lebruschin which means floss silk and refers to the flowers.2
