Rose Chrysler Imperial, Cl. Etymology

The American Rose Society Encyclopedia of Roses reports: “The Chrysler Imperial motor car has long since ceased production, but the sumptuous ‘Chrysler Imperial’ rose, after which it was named, remains a widely popular Hybrid Tea.” 2 However, the accuracy of this claim appears to be seriously challenged by this report claiming the production of the Chrysler Imperial motor car having started in 1924, so it seems the rose was indeed named after the motor car rather than vice versa.
