This rose was called ‘Bengale Neuman’ after its introducer by Péan, ‘Rose de l’Ile de France’ by Dubreuil, ‘Rose de Bourbon à fleurs pleines’ by Prévost and ‘Bengale Dubreuil’ by Vibert. 1

Rose Edouard folklore & trivia

Perhaps the first Bourbon…The rose cultivated in India as R. borboniana is actually ‘Rose Edouard’. Boitard says it was grown from seed sent to Hardy in 1822, and later introduced as a plant by Neuman. 1
