- Should be deadheaded regularly.
- Needs time to establish itself, but will grow into a vigorous shrub, sometimes as high as 10ft (3m).
Try to plant in a location that enjoys
full sun and remember to
water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Alister Stella Gray is thought of as
hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures. Planting Alister Stella Gray in
loamy soil with a ph of between
5.5 and
6.5 is ideal for as it does best in weakly acidic soil.
Hybrid. Will not reliably grow true to type from seed.
As Alister Stella Gray is hardy, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
Bred by Alexander Hill Gray (UK, 1894).
Introduced in United Kingdom by A. Paul & Son in 1894 as ‘Alister Stella Gray’.
