How to grow Dwarf Umbrella Tree

Schefflera arboricola

Site: Bright indirect light.

Temp: Keep warm over the winter min 60°F.

Water: Water well over the summer months and less over the winter. Place in a pebble tray or mist regularly to keep up humidity. If leaves turn black and begin dropping off it’s a good signal the soil is staying too wet or moist. On the flip side when leaf tips wrinkle if they are too dry.

Feeding: A liquid feed every month over the growing season.

Tip: Pinching out the growing tip when the plant is young will give you a much bushier plant.

WARNING: This plant is toxic if eaten.

Under the right conditions, this plant will produce aerial roots that, when they reach the ground, will convert to fully functional roots. They give the plant an unusual and interesting appearance. Three conditions must be maintained for the plant to produce them: a high growth rate, insufficient trunk roots (the plant is root bound or these roots are pruned) and constant, very high humidity.
