Broccoli in general prefers a well-drained, fertile soil high in organic matter, a pH of 6.0-7.5. Bay Meadows Broccoli does best in cool weather although it adapts well to a variety of conditions. It is best grown as spring or fall crop.

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water often. Keep in mind when planting that Bay Meadows is thought of as half hardy, so remember to protect this plant from frosts and low temperatures. Bay Meadows requires a loamy and sandy soil with a ph of 6.0 - 7.5 - it grows best in weakly acidic soil to weakly alkaline soil.

Transplanting Bay Meadows

Ensure that temperatures are mild (minimum night temperatures should be around 13°C / 55°F) and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Bay Meadows is a half hardy plant.

Harvesting Bay Meadows

Harvest the head before the beads in head pass their prime or just before the tiny buds of the head begin to open. Cut the stem a few inches below the crown to allow for side shoots to grow.

Expect harvests to start to occur in early summer.
