Rhubarb

I chose this carefully, for Tim, because I don’t like rhubarb that much! I had planted a crown last spring but the Chucks dug it up, so this will be fenced off while it gets bigger than they are!

This is a flexible variety as it can be forced and so be very early, February; or left to its own devices and still harvested from early summer until October.

It promises thinner stalks than usual, with good colour and flavour.
!3.03.10 Sprouting well, tiny red buds just beginning. Covered with net to keep the birds off

01.04.10 3 tiny leaves and buds
16.05.14 It has really struggled to grow and has rarely made enough stalks to make a pie. I’m thinking I should replace it
