False Blue Indigo

This might be my most favorite garden plant. The pea-like flowers in late spring are a pretty blue, the plant has a nice shape that needs no staking in sufficient sun (and perhaps a prop if in the shade — there’s a low wire propping up the front of this one). The foliage looks fresh all season, and the seed pods turn a funky black in late summer.

This planting is in the Frontyard garden .

Planted.
