Indeterminate. Here is a lovely “black” tomato that is loaded with flavor as well as production. This 2 oz. tomato, along with its other Vernissage cousins, is sure to make a big splash in the garden as well as the kitchen. These are perfect for rich tasting sauces.

The dark pink fruits are striped with purple. Each one is a unique masterpiece. The size is larger than the average cherry tomato. The juicy flavor is rich and tangy. The thick, crack-resistant skin makes it a perfect choice for the farmer’s market.

Tomato ‘Black Vernissage’ was developed in the Ukraine. Also known as Vernisazh Chernyi.

Sowing Tomato ‘Black Vernissage’ Seeds: FROM http://www.dianeseeds.com/tomato-black-vernissage.html

Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Sow 1/8" deep. Place the pots in a warm spot to speed germination. The most common causes of poor germination are cold temperatures and burying the seeds too deeply.

Transplant outside when all danger of frost is past. Bury the stem up to the first set of true leaves (tomatoes root along the stem). Full sun. Spacing 30-36". Provide a large tomato cage for support.

REVIEWS:
ˆWhat are the pros? Color taste disease resistance

What are the cons? Didn’t plant more

Review:
I grew these as an extra few to see what they would do. They were the best tomato of the year, they produced full branches of tomatoes and riped well even in the worst summer that we have had in many years. I grew the in my greenhouse and they tolerated a outbreak of late blight which did some of the others in. Picked the last ones in November directly from the greenhouse. Froze a lot but also grilled/broiled them and used them fresh. Skins are a little thicker than the shop bought tomato but this dind’t bother me. Will be growing them again this year.
