Sago palm

Bought three of these at Wal-Mart. They were half-price – marked down from $19.99 to $10. I just set them on concrete pavers in the narrow bed between the porch and the sidewalk. Jessica gave me three pretty planters that were perfect for them — just lifted them out of the store containers and dropped them into the planters.

These are apparently deadly poisonous to pets. Not sure why a pet would chew on one since they’re spiky, but something to be aware of.

This planting is in the Front Foundation Border Center garden .

All three of these probably got hit hard by the freezes. Fronds are beige, but still attractive, so will leave them to wait for new growth.

Thought the middle one had bitten the dust, but it’s finally putting out leaves. Not sure why it took so much longer than the others.

Not as much winter burn this year since it didn’t get very cold. Looking good.

These got a little “freezer burn” this year but came back just fine. They seem a little chorotic right now despite having been fed.

The fronds were almost all burned by the freezing weather. I didn’t think to move them back under the shelter of the porch. When they put out new fronds I guess I’ll have to cut back the burned pieces.

These seem to be growing faster than I expected them to. Maybe now that they’ve opened a new set of fronds, they’ll slow down in their growth.
