rosa Reine des Violettes

David Austin:
A unique, charming rose, with flowers closer to a Gallica than those of a typical Hybrid Perpetual. They are well formed, medium-sized rosettes, opening flat and quartered, the many petals arranged around a button eye. Their colour is a deep velvety purple, turning over time to a soft parma-violet. The stems have dusky greyish foliage and hardly any thorns. True Old Rose character. Some repeating. Fragrant. This rose requires good cultivation to give of its best. 4 × 2 ft. (Millet Malet 1860).
