Start inside 6-8 weeks before last frost in peat pots. Direct seeding in early spring is often more successful once the soil warms to 65-70°F. When planting, cover the seed lightly. Transplant after last frost into a sunny location 6-8" apart.
Water and deadhead regularly. Often self-seeds.
When the blooms fade, a very ornamental seedpod is formed. Once the seedpod turns brown, simple cut off and allow to completely dry before cracking open and removing the hundreds of small seeds. Store seeds in a cool dry area.

Took a long time to flower, but what a show! Beautiful blue colours, and the seed pods add interest to cut flower bouquets.
Pruning day 111
‘Shovel pruned’ as it was all gone to seed pods, and I didn’t want it to reseed here.
