Tomato [Coffee Grind Medium] Germination Bottle
The bottle is from Kroger 25 count bouillon cubes 3.25 oz
3 pieces of paper towel approx 2″ × 2″ (i wanted the paper towel to lap over the crown in the bottle so it would wick up water that settles out in it)
5ml Tyler spring water
approx. 1/2 cup used Coffee Grinds
Had to add additional 5ml water to bottle. on 1/31 it was spotty drops and no runs the top of the media was bone dry to touch.
On last of the night looking in on the baby’s i notice this one sprouting & it looks to need another 1-3ml water still will check with moisture meter in the am (2/3)… since I’m using a medium instead of paper towel & water it changes the game a whole lot.
But i can see this as a renewable FREE medium to start tomatoes will try peppers next…. by the time it goes to dirt in the spring the grinds would also somewhat breakdown & fertilize the soil All-In-One as well as help to preserve our last remaining peat moss swamps.
Our local Star-bucks gives away 5lb bags almost everyday Its a nationwide policy so go get you a bag….
You can tell when you have the water content “Just Right” when the water just beads on the sides and rarely runs if it constantly has runners of drips down the side you have to much.
