I grew these Chlorophytum comosum from seed this fall as an experiment. I sowed about 8 seeds from two seed pods from a large variegated Spider Plant I have in moist seed starting mix in my propagator, set them on the windowsill, and misted whenever the surface of the soil began to dry. The first seedling emerged after about 2 weeks, and four more followed about two weeks later. It was interesting to note that although the parent plant was variegated, the seedlings were not. This leads me to believe that variegated spider plants may be chimeral and can’t be propagated by seed, similar to Snake Plant. It was a fun experiment nonetheless.
This planting is in the Indoor - Houseplants garden .
