Tiger Lily 'Flore Pleno'

on the shady side of the circular bed, near the straw foxglove

I got mismarked bulbs. They were supposed to be purple martagon lilies, but instead what I’ve got are L. lancifolium ‘Flore pleno’ — double tiger lilies.

They’re very nice. But I’m still disappointed.

This planting is in the Frontyard garden .

Planted.

Very pretty. Still- I think id be disappointed too, because purple lilies are even more special.

Just curious where u bought the mismarked bulbs from?

Yeah, they’re really performing about as beautifully as any gardener could want, except for the not-purple thing. I feel bad about not loving them more, and I’m sure I’ll get over it eventually, but … not purple.

I got them from Van Bourgondien. I’ve bought from them in the past and had no problems — decent quality bulbs, properly marked, bloomed the next spring like they were supposed to, all that — so I’m sure this was just one of those flukey things that happens sometime.
