Basil 'Purple Ruffles'

This beautiful, dark purple basil is not only tasty, but it’s also a great color contrast in the garden. Perfect for containers or an herb garden, the ruffled leaves of purple basil and are different, serving somewhat like a coleus in the garden, only these are edible. The scent and flavor of Purple Ruffles are more licorice-and cinnamon-like than Sweet Basil. Enjoy this unusual form as part of your basil collection this spring. This variety has won a Mississippi Medallion Award for outstanding garden performance. It is also a 1987 All America Selections winner.
