Snake Beans

This garden bed was started three weeks ago. Basically we set out the site with bessa blocks, then laid a bed of old newspapers to keep the weeds our. The bed was then filled with a mixture of soil and mulched palm frond from the local recycling centre.
So far we have only planted snake beans along the back edge where the fence is. As they begin to grow we may add some flowers and fill in the garden bed with companion plants

This planting is in the Allotment garden .

Failed crop… These poor beans struggled on for a couple of months but fell victim to bean mite.
Some managed to reach the top of the fence but eventually all developed a kind of rot at the base of the plant.
They were planted before the wet season. The wrong time of year I suppose.
