Seed Swaps

more seeds to sow.

Sunny 4°C / 39°F

With an allotment to provide with seeds and plants as well as the garden I need to get sowing more early crops. While the ground is still far too cold to sow direct I have the greenhouse (unheated but insulated) and the sunroom (read strange leantoo on the side of house that gets some sun this time of year).
I have some sweetpeas germinating in the greenhouse along with some alpine strawberry seedlings overwintered. There are broad beans germinating in the airing cupboard and peas sprouting in the sunroom. These peas will move to the greenhouse as soon as they have their first true leaves.
There are also chillis and peppers along with some aubergines in the heated propagator beginning to sprout and now my son has found me a soil warming cable to create a warm bed to start off some more.
I found a large gravel tray and put a layer of sand in, laid out the cable and levelled more sand over. I now have the perfect place to provide bottom heat for the next lot of seeds.
