Odd things in Oz

I’m back from vacation. Found a lot of weird fantastic stuff in Melbourne.

[Pic 1] Yellow fruit. Sold in Victoria Market, it’s probably not indigenous to Australia.
[Pic 2] Blue fruit from pine trees?
[Pic 3] A lawn mowing bike.
[Pic 4] Inflatable fish that I bought at a bargain store.
[Pic 5] A quarry, I think the pond formed due to the digging.

Those blue “fruits” look like the crysallii of juniper worms (don;t know what they are really called, but we used to get those on our juniper bushes). Love the bike and the fish. :D

That’s amazing! I almost can’t believe they’re crysalii. They look so fruit like too. I touched the surfaced and it’s quite hard. Good thing I did not squeeze :D

Yes, love the bike and the fish too. The yellow fruit looks very much like a summer squash, the sort called Patty Pan squash… so maybe a vegetable rather than a fruit? Sounds like a great trip.

You’re right, it is a summer squash or a patty pan squash. Just looked it up at Wikipedia. Thanks for that info! Yeah, my 2 weeks at Melbourne was a lot of fun.

…I have plenty of memories of stepping on the dried “juniper worm chrysalises” in bare feet in summer…

Nax, you’re evil :)
