First Tomato Harvest!

20 Jul 2008
Sunny 22°C / 72°F

And here they are! They very patiently waited for me to get back from my weekend break – there were three fairly decent sized ones ready by today. I picked them and popped them in a salad.

So, on to the important stuff:

Taste: I think they tasted absolutely amazing, very sweet and hugely flavoursome. This could just be “I grew this” high talking here – so we’ll see how it changes over the season ;)

Texture: The skin was quite thick compared to the supermarket cherries we were using as our “control” for this very (un)scientific test, but not in a way that detracted from the texture, so they are very suitable as a salad tomato.

Better than a remember the Totems and Orange Pixies from last year, so they go straight to the top of the Tomatoes That I Have Grown Taste Contest :)
