Unknown beet bug

13 Jan 2013
Mostly Cloudy 19°C / 66°F

Only four 4 beet plants survived infancy from my 2 metre row – which is why I’m disappointed to find little white maggot-looking bugs on the first harvest – very tiny, I can’t actually tell whether they are crawling or wriggling. But they are definitely moving.

On the bright side, there is no obvious damage – a couple of leaves look mooshy, but that could’ve been the wallaby two nights ago jumping on it, or the gum bark that was shed all over, or even just last night’s rain – I doubt its related. I guess the proof will come at lunchtime when I cut it!
