Seed Swaps

After the storm

21 Jul 2012
Partly Sunny 24°C / 75°F

It went on raining hard all last night, an inch more in the rain gauge. The morning dawned with low cloud and the threat of more rain but the day brightened and became very pleasant. There seemed little damage, everything looked well soaked and bashed down but a little sun and they all perked up again. I thought that there would be nothing new today but I was wrong – three more daylilies. Tonight I noticed that Tiger Lily Citronella had a first flower open.

I have a shallow platter of water on the stone edge of East 2. I have never seen a bird drink from it but wasps are frequent visitors. Sometimes they seem to sip while flying but mostly they land and drift across the water. They have no trouble taking off again, straight up into the air.

My road which becomes one of the main downtown roads is lined with young trees where the shops begin. Many of them are lindens and, while I am sure that motorists that park beneath them hate the sticky sap that drips onto their vehicles, I love their shade and the scented blossoms with which they are covered at the moment.

I too love the heady scent of Linden. Lovely lillies.

I always enjoy your posts. It is part of my daily zen when I have time to “visit”.

Seeingreen, Fhaith: Thanks. The garden is a magical space to me. It is marvellous when it affects other people too. I am so happy to share it.
