Staying Away from Monsanto/Seminis-owned Varieties

This blog has an eye-opening list of vegetable varieties that are owned by Monsanto. So every time you buy seeds or plants of one of these, you’re tossing a little money Monsanto’s way.

Some of the varieties listed need further investigation. For instance, ‘Habañero’ pepper is listed. Monsanto doesn’t own all Habañero peppers but seems to have come up with an improved hybrid it does own. So what I take from the article is to be very careful about where you source your seeds and plants. Baker Creek Seeds is a place I know I’ll never find Monsanto/Seminis seeds, for instance.
