Still laughing at ‘Re-homed battery chickens – showing true leaves’. What next? I hear that battery hens will be outlawed as of the 1st January.

WOW. I cannot believe these are the same hens. You’ve done a wonderful job of nursing them back to health. :)

Great job! I am so in awe of your efforts and dedication. Wish more people would realize that battery-farming is absolutely brutal and cruel. Kudos to you and good luck to your gorgeous girls.

Absolutely beautiful (: I had a little tear up when I saw your new pics of the ladies!

Thank you, it is a very uplifting thing to do. The most amazing thing is that the rehomed hens know exacty what worms are and how to do ‘gardening’ and take dirt baths, even though they have never seen the light of day or walked on anything nicer than a wire grill.

Rainy mountain is right, ‘battery’ cages are now ‘illegal’ in the EU but unfortunately the new ‘enhanced’ cages are not a lot better so ‘free range’ egg will be the kindest option, unless, of course, you fancy a few chickens of your own :)
