Bloom Day: November

15 Nov 2011
Cloudy 26°C / 79°F

It’s amazing how many plants are still blooming in November here! Quite a few are dying back, but a bunch are blooming on. Here’s a subset:

Photo #1: Japanese Aralia (and morning glories in the background)
Photo #2: Gaillardia and California bush daisies
Photo #3: Bulbine, Lantana, Nandina fruits (and Coreopsis in the background)
Photo #4: Cassia
Photo #5: Georgian Savory, Rudbeckias, and Orange Mint

The cassia looks great! Funny that we both picked the aralia for the badge. It does have rather striking flowers.

The cassia really shines at this time of year, and it’s neat to have it in a spot where we can admire it at least twice a day.
I was amused that we both ended up picking the aralia, too – I picked it since it was my most recent flowerer (the rest having been blooming for weeks or months at this point), but also because I thought it would be fun to highlight a somewhat unusual plant that I’ve encountered only recently. And then the next Bloom Day badge (yours) featured the same plant! So now the aralia is getting an even healthier dose of PR. :)
