Your gardens look so nice and tidy!

Thanks! We’ll see if I can keep them that way. I used to just have 200 square feet in a community garden and a small apartment yard that my landlord let me play with. My new yard with 1/2 and acre and quite a few garden beds (with more every month) is a much bigger project, but one that I love. :)

Amazing to be growing banana outside – it looks so healthy too. Do you bring it in for winter or just wrap it up well? Here in UK it is possible in the south, in a sheltered garden, to grow banana plant outside but I fear my garden is too exposed to cold northerlies.

Bananas are perennials here, but the above-ground parts die every winter. They’ve really taken off over the past few weeks! We don’t have a long enough frost-free season for them to bear fruit, though – the previous homeowners said they’d only gotten fruit from one banana tree (and there were quite a few plants on the property) one year.

I used to think zinnias were kinda blah, but they really perform so beautifully I appreciate them for it.

I had second thoughts about my zinnias early on since their foliage was scraggly for a while before they started flowering, but now they’re covered in flowers and each plant has its own distinct coloration and I’ve become a convert.
