Hi. It looks like this group is dead. But I’ll throw out a new topic and see what happens. I’m new to desert gardening. I moved to Phoenix 5 years ago and tried container gardening with dismal results. Apparently, everything needed water not just once a day but twice, which was too much to handle when I was working.
Now I’m in the Amargosa Valley area of Nevada. Not quite as hot as Phoenix but much drier — 3-4 inches of rain a year, and no monsoon season.
I’m looking for fellow gardeners with experience in such climates. A prior tenant or owner installed an extensive drip watering system. I’m seriously considering either a rain gutter water system or self-watering 5 gallon buckets.
Hi Ves, no, My Folia is not dead! There are still a fair number of us who write on here fairly frequently. In the winter months a lot of the activity declines as there is little going on in our gardens during the winter months. In a couple of months, with the arrival of spring, things will start to pick up again.
I know absolutely nothing whatsoever about desert gardening! I live in the UK but though I live in the driest region of England, East Anglia, it can’t compare with where you live.
