Your user name was so different that I had to take a look. :) Why did you pick that particular name?
I see that you have only just purchased some of these things. Are you going to keep them on your porch until spring, or go ahead and plant them, hoping for the best? You probably got them in a fall garden sale, didn’t you? I just about can’t pass those up!! Makes me glad that I don’t get to town very often. :)
Hi TropicanaRoses. I guess I chose the name, as I’m in the U.S.A. & like to grow Mexican species of cacti, aside from perennial flowers.
Its been fairly difficult to keep track of all my plant & seed ‘purchases’ (especially sowing dates), unless I actually took the time to also note it on labels, besides the species/cultivar name of the sowing, or remembering to include the source.
Some of the mail order purchases, were made while on sale while others I just had to have, on sale or not..
For various other plant sowings, it’s mostly been a matter of taking the time (recently) to gather info together , so I could add all the info into my ‘plantings’!
Just trying to get caught up, before too many other orders are scheduled to be delivered.
Ah! I see! I share your enthusiasm for buying plants on sale (or not). I always come back with seeds in the spring when they start showing up in the stores. Every trip! :) Next growing season we will be ordering seeds as well as store shopping. There are some things that I want that I can’t get in the store.
Hi TropicanaRoses. To seriously answer the question about my user name; I originally selected the name, because that was what Clint Eastwood was called, in some of his old spaghetti Westerns!
I used to go the movie theaters on an Army Base (Camp Darby) when I was about 8 & living in Italy.
The first time I began using it , was at gardenweb forums, almost 10 years ago. So, I still use it now or whenever I can….
But I took so long to register with Ebay, someone else got it before I did.
Ordering from the internet makes it rather easy to find sources for plants & seeds, plus meet other gardeners that share a similar interest. I know I spend quite a bit on postage, but usually it’s about the only way, for many things I’d like to have. The local garden centers typically carry almost exactly all the same old darned things year in & year out. lol
What have you been looking for, lately?
btw, I never have figured out yet, how to cut copy & paste to get photo URL’s out of my online album, for posting thumbnails here. Know how? Cause I sure don’t! lol
That’d be a great help, Tropocanaroses.
Well, I can tell you what to do if you are using Picasa, I here that Flickr is similar, but I don’t know about that one.
You can double click the URL, right click on it, select paste, and put it in your conversation, and then people can go and view it, or when creating a journal, planting or garden, just click on one of the picture squares and select the pic that you want, hit save and you are done. You only have to make certain that your album is listed as “public” or folia can’t see it, and go to your folia settings and be certain that your user info is listed for your web album site. If this is not clear, ask me about the “unclear” portion, and I will try to explain it more. :)
I also enjoy swapping. It is my favorite winter pass time. I am always on the look out for something different or desirable. I will take a look at your list, and then maybe we can talk about that. If there is anything that you do not see in my list, just ask me. I may not have listed it out of oversite. :)
I tried to post a reply, but it may not have completed. There seems to have been something that interfered. Is it more reliable to send emails through this site?
