Front of Porch Garden

The old bushes died and I redug this area. Need things to fill it, so I am trying Hardy Geranium and Columbine. The Bleeding Heart is in the corner by the stairs, and I planted 2 miniature Hollyhocks (mallow) near the outer corner. Got these bonus bulbs which I cannot identify, but I think they are Oxalis, which I put in the front. The birdfeeder is here, so I will have Sunflowers, too! I have some ground covers in there – a Creeping Sedum of some sort, and some Lamium.

Containing 6 plants, PauletticusJ's Front of Porch garden is an outdoor garden located in Clintonville, United States.

This is a Foundation garden that is known to be in USDA Hardiness Zone 4b. It has mainly Sandy Loam soil and receives Partial Sun light.

Only one Columbine is doing well. One seems like it is starting, one seems dead. The Lamium is blooming!

I have discovered that the free bulbs i got were ranunculous. The bulbs looked like little bunches of bananas. I saw a photo of the sprouting leaves online and I do believe this is what I received now. They have sprouted well, but I know nothing about them! I seem to remember them being named something like “pinks”. I am very curious to see what these turn out to look like.

I planted some potted begonias here and they look beautiful with the blue Lamium and Geraniums! The Columbine is blooming now, too.
