Thursday, 20 January 2011. My first attempt at winter sowing, as opposed to a winter (in ground) garden. I purchased a large translucent container at Walmart. It will hold 24 square 3 1/2 inch square pots. Since this is my first attempt at this type of seeding, it has to be classified as an experiment. It’s all worth a try from what I’ve been reading both here on Folia and other sites. I’m using cheap potting soil from Walmart, as well, as I figure it has no (or little) fertilizers in it.
Update: March 2014: I only did the ‘winter sowing’ once and it wasn’t very successful as far as I was concerned. I will go back to sowing perennial seeds in the vegetable garden in the late fall/early winter, as that seems to work best for me. Annuals etc. will be started indoors.
