How to grow Watermelon 'Golden Midget'

  • Full Sun

  • Medium

Enjoys a full sun position in your garden and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Golden Midget is thought of as tender, so remember to wait until your soil is warm and the night time temperature is well above freezing before moving outside. A soil ph of between 6.5 and 7.5 is ideal for Golden Midget as it does best in weakly acidic soil - weakly alkaline soil.

Growing Golden Midget from seed

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 8.12 feet (2.50 metres) and sow at a depth of around 0.39 inches (1.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 16°C / 61°F to ensure good germination.

Transplanting Golden Midget

As Golden Midget is tender, ensure temperatures are mild enough to plant out - wait until after your last frost date to be on the safe side.
