Tie the plant in to the cane as necessary.

Plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Sweet Pea Mixture is thought of as half hardy, so remember to protect this plant from frosts and low temperatures.

Sow three seeds to a 7cm pot in autumn early spring or mid spring. Germinate at about 20C and then grow on in cooler brighter conditions Can be sown direct in the spring

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 7.8 inches (20.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 0.39 inches (1.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 10°C / 50°F to ensure good germination.

Plant out in a sunny position, with supports for the growing plant

Ensure that temperatures are mild (minimum night temperatures should be around 12°C / 54°F) and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Sweet Pea Mixture is a half hardy plant.

Harvest for cut flowers once each week, taking all the blooms on the plant.
To harvest seed for nest years plants, make the chosen pods with coloured wool and allow only these to develop, so to keep the plant flowering for as long as possible.
Pick the seed pod when it has swollen and turned brown and dry, just before it splits. Place in a paper bag and keep dry until the pod splits.
Save the seeds in dry cool conditions

Expect harvests to start to occur in late summer.
