How to grow Globe artichoke 'Tavor'

Heavy feeder. Provide plenty of compost/rotted manure.

Try to plant in a location that enjoys full sun and remember to water often. Keep in mind when planting that Tavor is thought of as half hardy, so remember to protect this plant from frosts and low temperatures.

Growing Tavor from seed

Plant seeds 8 to 10 weeks prior to planting outdoors. Once germinated, place in cold frame or cold area where night time temperatures will drop to about 50 degrees for about ten days. Plant needs to go through this process to produce buds. This is a cool-weather crop. Does not like heat.

Transplanting Tavor

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Tavor is a half hardy plant.

Harvesting Tavor

Cut stem 1.5 inches below the bud. To store, refrigerate at 40 degrees F.
