How to grow Spinach 'Melody'

  • Full Sun

  • Low

Enjoys a full sun position in your garden and remember to apply water fairly sparingly. Keep in mind when planting that Melody is thought of as half hardy, so it will need protecting in periods of cold weather. Ideally plant in loamy soil and try to keep the ph of your soil between the range of 6.0 and 7.0 as Melody likes to be in weakly acidic soil to neutral soil.

Growing Melody from seed

Aim to sow 0.49 inches (1.25 cm) deep and try to ensure a gap of at least 3.12 inches (8.0 cm). Soil temperature should be kept higher than 8°C / 46°F to ensure good germination.

By our calculations, you should look at sowing Melody about 60 days before your last frost date.

Transplanting Melody

Ensure that temperatures are mild (minimum night temperatures should be around 0°C / 32°F) and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Melody is a half hardy plant.
