  • Partial Sun

  • Medium

Pull off the old flower heads and developing seed pods, to conserve the bulbs energy.

Plant out into the garden bulbs that have been used in pots to allow them to recover. Use fresh bulbs in your pots in the autumn

Try to plant in a location that enjoys partial sun and remember to water moderately. Keep in mind when planting that Yellow Cheerfulness is thought of as hardy, so this plant will survive close to or on freezing temperatures.

Growing Yellow Cheerfulness from seed

Not usually grown from seed, as a buld will take a few years to flower. It is easier to divide an established clump, or search for bulb offsets after flowering

Try to aim for a seed spacing of at least 3.9 inches (10.0 cm) and sow at a depth of around 5.85 inches (15.0 cm).

Transplanting Yellow Cheerfulness

Plant out in the autumn in groups of at least three. Plant 15 cm deep in grassy areas, under trees or hedges. Also useful in tubs and pots

Ensure that temperatures are mild and all chance of frost has passed before planting out, as Yellow Cheerfulness is a hardy plant.

Harvesting Yellow Cheerfulness

Useful as a cut flower, pick as a developing bud and it will open in the vase

Expect harvests to start to occur in mid spring.
